This is a sort-of gallery of different rices (desktop configurations) I've made over the last couple of years for myself on Linux and Windows.
You can simply click on a name in the listing, enjoy!!
Jan 25 - This is what made me realize (again) how terrible my computer is: I spent at least 2 hours on this, doing some funky stuff with Rainmeter - the dock lags. the dock LAGS. it uses up too many resources. Rainmeter, amirite?
Jan 25 - So. Yeah. I left Linux, had my couple of reasons. I really just wanted a system again where I don't have to constantly think about 'oh can it run [application]'. And more. I didn't really 'rice' my desktop a lot. I could have installed Rainmeter. I could have, uh, 'borrowed' Wallpaper Engine from my brother but nah. It does the job. I don't really know why I went back to desktop icons but they've been serving me well.
Oct 24 - So I've mainly been keeping my desktop similar to before. Only things I really did was maybe move the dock and change the theme from time to time. This image is just me messing around with the GNOME Blur-My-Shell extension :p
Jun 24 - Decided it could have been nice to return to this kind of workflow. I've been liking it! Very sleek
May 24 - Taking the sleek, modern GNOME experience and forming it into a classic Desktop. I've been reaching out more to simplicity and stability and this has been fairly nice.
Apr 24 - Ah, the breaking point. I got so fed up with Arch Linux - did you know I use Debian fyi? Ever since I've been using Debian as my main system. It's been a nice time.
Mar 24 - Hi and welcome to KDE Plasma 6! IT'S TIME I FLASHBANG YOU ALL WITH LIGHT MODE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA- I decided to make a full switch to light mode to keep myself away at night. Things have not changed as I still use my computer up late but I can now see in light.
Feb 24 - This is another one I went all in for. Back with KDE-Bismuth because I knew it had the potential to make for a very modern looking Desktop. And it looked great.
Feb 24 - I'm certain this is Windows 10.
Feb 24 - Hear me out, that was a fairly experimental one. I decided to clone the top bar from osu!lazer a bit. Don't know how to feel about it. But hey we are now using the colour scheme Gruvbox! Great one if you don't like blue lights (like me). Either way that website you are seeing here is my landing page for my web browser!
Jan 24 - No way, is that 'First Desktop'?????????????????????!?!?!
Dec 23 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (also known as KDE) is a 2003 epic high fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson from a screenplay by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Jackson.
Nov 23 - I was using GNOME for some time because I had a lot of problems with my KDE install since I just broke too much stuff customizing it. I went a bit overboard on the screenshot haha. Lots of fun in there.
Nov 23 - Let's not get into that phase. Not a fan of full-fledged tiling-WM's.
Edit: It's hillarious to look back on this. As im constantly trying to rice hyprland in 2025.
Oct 23 - I do dual boot Windows 10, I know, shocker. I decided to do some customizing in Windows again because I've missed it! The top bar should be made with Rainmeter (if my memory serves me correct) (I've got it somewhere off the web, Deviantart probably) and of course I've added on Open-Shell.
Oct 23 - Still the same as 'Bismuth' to be honest, but the wallpaper and colour scheme are now dependent on the time (meaning I can switch to Dark Mode at night). I can only show up one image in this website though, so take the light one :)
Oct 23 - So I learned about the existance of KDE-Bismuth and decided to once again flip everything upside down by creating this. Changing this stuff is fun, I can't help it
Sep 23 - Wow, is this the return of the ['First Desktop']??? But with Catppuccin now??? Nice desktop nevertheless
Sep 23 - KNOME Moment, also the time I decided to become silly by using a colour scheme like Catppuccin.
Jul 23 - Decided to be even more creative with my Desktop. I created invisible panels on each side with Latte Dock which made maximizing Windows still show a bit of a border to the screen edges. I liked this Desktop a lot!
Jul 23 - This was the moment where I was finally able to say 'I use arch btw', also when I got my new SSD haha. Decided to be a bit creative with building up my Desktop again.
Jun 23 - Before buying my new SSD I decided to distrohop a few times to try out different Desktop Environments. Here is my short-lived Xfce Desktop!
Jun 23 - Decided to chill down a bit with my Desktop layout.
Apr 23 - I went all out on this one! Latte Dock was a powerful tool. Too bad it's discontinued (I think?). I'll be fully honest though, this layout (which does look similar to MacOS) isn't that nice to work with for me. It was fun building that all up though!
Feb 23 - Felt a little funny. Notice how the workflow from 'First Desktop' is still present?
Dec 22 - Finally decided to use an actual theme. I love how the clock fit in the wallpaper! I've also added on a little 'start menu' that looks similar to the one in 'Magnum Opus'. Was a nice time.
Nov 22 - Welcome to Linux, the penguin warriors. More specifically Kubuntu. It looks a bit bad since I didn't have a lot of experience yet, but I've settled for a workflow that has been coming back multiple times over the future months. Smart choice, past devcey.
Aug 22 - Never have I had a cleaner Desktop than this. I also modified the taskbar in here with TaskbarX and it's cleeeeannnnn... this is the last snapshot of a Windows Desktop I've got before using Linux fulltime
Aug 22 - Experimented a bit using Rainmeter. I think I made the sidebar myself? Not sure. Was nice though. I was also shown the program TaskbarX which I modified the taskbar at the top with.
May 22 - This was the Magnum Opus: I loved the workflow I got through the fullscreen start menu. Sure, it's a whole lot of mouse moving, but I belong to the kind that likes using the mouse.
Dec 20 - A friend of mine taught me a little trick on how to get those centered icons. I'm not entirely sure about how it went and it's no longer possible on Windows 11 but it had something to do with pinning a folder to your taskbar.
Sep 20 - Just some basic Rainmeter stuff back in the day. Again.
